Last year was the 6th time that we have put on our exhibition at the Bassingbourn Village College [BVC], and by now everyone more or less knows their place in the general scheme of things as far as setting up and getting the place ready for the participants. Our Exhibition manager, Reg, should be congratulated for his sterling work in drawing up instructions for who goes where and how much space to give them. On the day the setup went pretty much flawlessly; signs put up both inside and out, kitchen staff in place [Bacon stacked ready to cook] electric extension leads strategically placed. Car park guides to direct the exhibitors and traders to the relevant entrances.
We hope to repeat our offering this year; the free “Historic Bus” shuttle between Royston Bus & Train Stations and the exhibition has been booked.
The Royston Model Engineering Society are bringing along a locomotive, to run on their outdoor track and rolling stock to give rides.
We have uploaded some of the pictures of that day last year HERE.
During the day we will be selling snacks (cakes & biscuits) and tea/coffee from the kitchen area.
The only slight problem that we encountered last year was some of our visitors chose to park on the grass adjacent to the next-door junior school. If you are coming along this year, please avoid the grass as, (judging by the tyre tracks), two or three of them ended up partially stuck when they sank into one of the land drains that criss-cross the lawn. If the car park is full, there is usually space in the adjacent streets [North End and South End].
As always, please use our contact page if you want to contact us to ask any questions before the day, or make any comments about the day.
